Making Connections with Social Media

The story of Sam the Social Media Seagull starts off in the San Francisco Bay Area, November 2008. He was just a West Coast seagull hanging out on the beach and I snapped his photo on a visit out there.

When I created this website in early 2009, I was looking for a stock photograph to reflect the concept of making connections using social media, but I just couldn’t find the right photo. Then I looked into my own pictures and the seagull photo just jumped right out at me. (more about the symbolism of the seagull alone, looking out at the ocean, later).

I brainstormed a name for the seagull and finally came up with Sam, The Social Media Seagull or Sam_SMS for short. (to be cont’d…)
